Weathering

Weathering is the breaking apart of land or rock into sediments.

There are two types of weathering: Mechanical and Chemical

Mechanical weathering is the breaking apart of rocks by a physical process.

Chemical weathering is breaking apart of rock with a chemical reaction such as acid rain.

Erosion is the movement of sediments by wind, water, glaciers, gravity, humans, etc.

Deposition

Deposition is the dropping off of sediments in a new location.

The piney woods is a Rolling terrain covered with pines and oaks, and rich bottomlands with tall hardwoods. They characterize the forests of the east Texas Pineywoods. This region is part of a much larger area of pine-hardwood forest that extends into Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. A variety of broad-leaved plants, shrubs, and grasses grow in this ecoregion of Texas.

Gulf Coast
