I dedicate this book to my teacher, Mrs. Mack and also for helping me understand our Solar System.

There was a girl named Judy, she is 8 years old. Judy will be the first second grader to go to space. She studied space when she was three years old and she got into Honor Class when she was six!

Judy packed her stuff to go to space at 6:07am. Judy’s checklist, listed dry food, camera, and her teddy bear, Miley. Judy had a check mark beside each item on the list.

After Judy said bye to her dad, mom and brother, Judy sister drove her to the space shuttle launch. When she got out the car she said bye to her sister.

Judy entered the space shuttle and waited for the people at the space shuttle center to set her free. “Three, two, one!” said a man with brown hair wearing a green hat. Judy finally made it to space. First she felt nothing then, all the blood in her body rushed to her head making her dizzy.

When Judy didn’t feel dizzy anymore she went into her suitcase to eat some dry strawberries. When she tried to open the bag it popped and all the dry strawberries drifted to the top of the space shuttle. “Oh no my strawberries!” Judy forgot about the strawberries when she saw Mercury.

Mercury is smaller than all than all the other planets and the closet planet to the Sun making it an inner planet.” Mercury appears to move around its orbit in about one hundred-sixteen days.” said Judy looking at the planet. Judy wished she could see it spin on its axis but, it takes fifty-nine days and Judy didn’t have that much time. Mercury is a grayish color. It looks a little bit like the moon.

Venus is about the same size as Earth but, it spins in the opposite direction of the Earth. “Isn’t that amazing?” Judy said amazed at the colors of Venus. “I’m glad we don’t live on Venus because the clouds there are made of poisonous gases.” Judy said starring at Venus.
Judy passed Mercury and looked at the Earth. Judy never seen the whole world in real life before.” Wow... the third planet is closer to the Sun which makes it an inner planet.” Judy said as she looked at Venus with its brownish red color. Venus is the second inner planet closet to the Sun.

Judy looked back at Earth. “There is seventy-five percent of water on the Earth and twenty-five percent of land.” Judy said. Judy accidentally hit the speed button and went so fast until she was very really close to Mars.

Judy fell when the space shuttle took off full speed. “Ow” Judy said rubbing her head. She floated up into the air before she could see Mars. She didn’t mind because now she could eat her strawberries. “Oh look its Mars! The inner planet furthest from the Sun. It’s smaller than all the other planets but, Mars reminds me of Venus because of its colors.

After Judy said that she popped a strawberry in her mouth “Yum” Judy said closing her eyes. Judy opened her eyes just to see a button on the top of the space shuttle “What’s does this do?’ Judy wondered and pressed the button and fell to the ground. “Ow.” Judy said and the strawberries fell on her head “Oh, well at least I can eat them now!.

Great red spot. “Wow...” Jupiter was the first gas giant in the solar system and had sixty-three or more moons. Judy ate a couple of her strawberries before she got back in her seat. She pressed full speed to go to the next planet. Here we go agai- Judy screamed as she went full speed. The space shuttle stopped. She looked at Jupiter.” Look one of the outer planets!” Judy said pointing at Jupiter. “The biggest planet in the solar system” Judy liked the colors of Jupiter more than Venus. “It reminds me of the marble I got at Dollar Tree.” She pressed full speed to go to the next planet.

Judy was okay with it going full speed and didn’t even scream. As the space shuttle stopped she saw Saturn and Uranus. “Look at Saturn’s beautiful rings, its made of rocks and gasses.” Saturn was famous for its beautiful rings around it. Judy looked at Uranus. “I’m glad we don’t live there... It would be colder than the north and South Pole!”

Uranus is the second planet furthest from the sun. No humans or animals would be able to live there because of how cold it is.” “OH! That’s makes me want a Popsicle!” Judy wanted to go home but, had one planet left to look at.
Judy hit the full speed button and after it stopped she saw Neptune. She got out of her seat and pressed her face against the window.
