To all of you amazing third graders.

Do you know what W.E.D stands for?
Yes I do know what it stands for.

W.E.D stands for Weathering,Erosion and Deposition.

Do you know what weathering is?

Yes, let me show you.

Weathering is when rocks are being broken down into smaller pieces or being dissolved.
For example, this rock has been weathered down.
Thanks, now I know what weathering is.

Do you know what erosion is?
I'll tell you that too!

Erosion is when materials like rocks and soil are moved by wind and water.
See here this road was weathered down, but pieces were moved around

I don't know what deposition is either, can you help me with that too?
Yeah, of course!

Deposition is when rocks, soil or other materials are dropped off in a different location.
See that sand bar? Well the sand got there from erosion and has stayed there and that's called deposition

Oh, I get it now! Thanks for helping me out.
You're welcome, but I'm not done yet ,let me tell you what goes on in some of the ecoregions like the Piney woods, High plains, and the Great plains and marshes!
The Piney woods is located in the southern United States. It's in East Texas, southern Arkansas, western Louisiana and southeastern Oklahoma.
The east Texas Piney woods has rolling terrain covered with pines and oaks, and rich bottom lands with tall hardwoods. This region is part of a much larger area of pine-hardwood forest.
Fast moving water would weather away rocks in the rivers. Plants and trees help prevent soil erosion when it’s raining and if there are no plants and trees and the soil is exposed to water and wind, it is easily eroded.
The average Rainfall in the Piney Woods is 40-52 inches of rain a year.
The temperature in the piney woods ranges from 30-34 degrees Celsius in the Summer and from 2-6 degrees Celsius in the Winter.
The Watersheds in the Piney woods is the Lower Sulphur Watershed,Upper Sabine Watershed and the Upper Neches Watershed.
The major cities and population in the Piney woods is Canton with 3,568 people or more ,Tyler with 96,900 people or more,Texarkana with 28,451 people or more and Nacogdoches with 33,868 people or more.
Common animals and plants in the Piney woods is the Bobcat,Eastern Cottontail,Gray Fox,Red maple,White Ash and the Water Oak.
The Invasive species of the Piney woods is the Kudzu,Japanese Honeysuckle and Golden Bamboo.
The Endangered species of the Piney woods is the Red Cockaded Woodpecker,Texas Trailing Phlox and the Red Wolf.
Humans change ecoregions by activities such as agriculture, construction, harvesting natural resources, and urbanization. The larger the population, the greater its effect on an ecoregion.
