Once upon a time there was a man named Joey. He was a doctor at the largest hospital in the city. He was an expert in first aid, and he enjoyed using his skills to help people in need.

One day, Joey was walking home from work. He decided to enjoy the beautiful weather by taking a walk through the park. While he was walking, he saw some kids having fun playing soccer.

Suddenly, one of the kids started crying because he got stung by a bee. The girl was alarmed because she knew that the boy was allergic to bees. Thankfully, Joey knew just what to do.

Joey knew that the boy was having an allergic reaction to the bee sting. This is dangerous because it can cause dizziness, swelling, and trouble breathing. He had to move quickly if he was going to help the boy.

Joey asked the boy if he had an Epi-pen. An Epi-pen is a device that people who are having an allergic reaction can use to help them feel better and prevent any negative side effects. The boy gave Joey the Epi-pen and he began the process of using it.

First, he held the Epi-pen with his fist, being very careful not to touch either end. Then, he took off the safety cap. Next, he pressed the Epi-pen firmly against the boy's outer thigh, and he held it in place for ten seconds. Lastly, He pulled the pen straight out of his leg.

The boy was very thankful for Joey's help. He said, "Thank you for your first aid help! You saved my life, and I feel much better." Joey said good bye and continued on his journey home.

Thank you, Joey!
On his way home, Joey remembered that he needed to buy some groceries. He went inside the store and greeted the people inside. Suddenly, someone yelled, "Help! That man is having a heart attack!"
Joey ran over to the man. He observed that the man was not breathing. He knew that he had to perform CPR.
This situation calls for CPR!

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (cardio means "heart", pulmonary means "lungs", and resuscitate means "to revive"). CPR is used to help people who have stopped breathing or whose hearts have stopped beating. It involves a combination of mouth to mouth breathing and chest compressions.

Joey began the process of CPR by going through the important steps. The first thing that Joey did was check to make sure that there were no dangerous items in the area. When he determined that it was safe, he said, "The scene is safe."

The scene is safe.

Next, he had to check for a response from the man. He did this by tapping his shoulder and shouting to see if he would respond. There was no response from the man.
