Once upon a time, in a forest town, a group of animals used to make jokes about a monkey that was not smart. The “dumb monkey” as they called him, was simple, poor and did not seem smart at all.

He lived off of the money he collected by doing chores for the rest of the animals and also from the charity.
Every day, the animals would get together in their favorite spot.

There was a group led by the snake that would make fun of the monkey. To show everybody else how dumb the monkey was, the snake would call the monkey to the table and offered the monkey to pick between two coins: one coin was worth twenty cents and the other one a dollar.

The twenty cents coin was bigger and shinier than the one dollar coin.

The monkey would always pick the biggest and shinier coin of lesser value; this made all animals burst into laughter. The animals had fun all night by doing this to the poor monkey.

One day, the owl was observing the group making fun of the monkey. The owl, ashamed by the behavior of the other animals, called the monkey in to talk with him privately.

The owl asked him, “My friend, don’t you have figured out that the bigger coin is worth less than, the smaller one?"

The monkey answered, “I know, I’m not as dumb as they think I am."
