

This book is dedicated to my VPK Class of 2016-2017. They are quite inquisitive about all types of animals, so they inspired me to created this ABC book about dolphins.

Dolphins don't chew. They eat fish whole and head first to avoid being harmed by the fish scales and spine.

Bottlenose dolphins are very intelligent and interactive. They are fast learners and can understand human commands.

They have excellent sense of hearing. Sounds travel through their lower jaw to their inner ear.

These dolphins can grow to weigh as much as
500 kilograms or 1,000 pounds

Also, these dolphins can range in length from 6 feet to 13 feet long.

The bottlenose dolphins are also known as friendly marine mammals.

In the past twenty years, a large amount of bottlenose dolphin have been killed due to the nets used for tuna fishery .

Glands at the inner corners of the eye sockets secrete an oily, jelly-like mucus that lubricates the eyes, washes away debris, and proctects the dophin's eye from infections.

They travel in pods to protect each other from predators. These include tiger sharks, dusky sharks, and bull sharks.

They have delicate skin but heals quickly.
