Once upon a time, three little rockers wanted to make a band.

Marty, the metamorphic rock, could play the dazzling drums.

Ike, the igneous rock, could play the grand guitar.

Sammy, the sedimentary rock, was a sweet singer.

Here they are getting ready for practice!

Each of these rock stars have their own back story on how they finally met and joined together in a band.

This is how it all began...

First comes Ike, the igneous rock. Ike started becoming a rock star by the magma in his body cooling and forming into crystals.

Magma is hot fluid below or within the Earth's crust.

Ike became an igneous rock with a passion for playing the grand guitar. 

 Ike could also learn to play the drums and sing by taking lessons.

To sing, like Sammy the sedimentary rock, Ike would have to be broken down into pieces by the wind and water. The rock pieces would move to a different area, form a layer on the ground, and soon become stuck together. Ike soon will become a sedimentary rock like Sammy and be able to sing!

To become a drummer like Marty, Ike's body would have to undergo heat and pressure. As he moves deeper underground, he gets heated up. He would be formed into larger crystals and become a metamorphic rock that could play the dazzling drums like Marty.

Second comes Sammy, the sedimentary rock! Sammy started out as little pieces of rock.

These pieces of rock were carried by wind and water to an area where they formed a layer of Earth's surface.

Here, the pieces became stuck together over a period of time and Sammy, the sedimentary rock became a super singer!

Sammy also went on to learn to play the guitar and the drums.
