On a bright winter morning in Denver, Colorado Johnny Johnson woke up excited. His dad, a professional mountain
climber, was finally letting him go with him on a mountain
climbing expedition to Mt. Skyland on Fuji Island. He could
not wait to go.

Johnny ran downstairs and gave his dad a hug andsaid "Can Austin and Alice come too please!" His Dad thought
a second and replied "Yes they can come if their parents agree.
Johnny called Austin and Alice and they could come. Johnny
packed his things for the trip and put his suitcase in the car.

Johnny and his dad got in the packed car. They picked up excited Austin and Alice. The group was
ready to go and could not wait.

They got on the airplane and headed to Fuji Island. On the plane they talked about what they were going to do when they
got there. Johnny's dad told them about the mysteries of the
mountain.

As it started getting dark, they arrived at Mt. Skyland. The group unloaded their gear and started up the mountain.After
they climbed partly up the mountain,it began to snow heavily.
The group spotted an abandoned cabin. They decided to stop
there for the night. Johnny's dad built a fire.

In the middle of the night Johnny and Austin got up and wanted to explore. "I can't wait until morning to explore.
Lets go now" said Johnny. They snuck out of the cabin and
quietly crept away.

The boys climbed higher and higher into the mountains.The two friends spotted a cave and climbed
toward it. "We are almost there" said Austin.

"This cave is so cool" said Austin and Johnny at the same time. The boys continued through the cave. "I smell something strange,"
said Johnny. "Me too" said Austin."Let's follow the scent."
