There was once a boy named Jeff who had social anxiety which kept him from going outside with the other kids. He would always watch them play from inside or outside near his house.

Many times he would want to join the kids play outside but was scared to talk to them.

He would always run back into the house and sit at a corner of the room. No matter how much he wanted to play with the kids he couldn't talk to them.

But one day one of the young boys knocked on the door and asked if he could come into the house. When the boy entered the house he introduced himself and asked, "Hi my name is Henry. Why do you always watch us play but never want to play with us?"

Jeff was surprised to be asked that. He looked down at the ground nervously. He then explained," I do want to play but I was afraid that you did not want me to play with you."

Jeff explained how he has social anxiety. It made him nervous in public. Which would cause him to panic and breath hard. The only way he was able to calm himself was by spinning a pencil between his fingers.
