A boy named Jim had a huge crush on a girl at 

his school named Jeane.   They were both in 

eleventh grade.   Jim always had Jeane on his 

mind.

Jim decided to ask Jeane out on a date.   Jeane 

excepted, got in nice clothes, and then started 

her date.

They both agreed on a root beer shop.

Jim paid for a root beer just for Jeane.   Sadly, 

he didn't read the label of the drink.

Jeane gulped it down thinking it was root beer.  

The drinks tasted the same to her.  

   Nothing happened to Jeane that day.

As Jeane awoke the next day, she felt 

something funny on her face.   She walked over 

to the mirror in her room.   As soon as she saw 

the black beard on her face she screamed.  

"What am I going to do?" Jeane thought.   But 

Jeane ended up doing nothing.                     

When Jim saw her he was quite frighted by 

Jeane's beard.   Everyone stared at Jeane and 

avoided her.   She grew very sad.  

After school Jeane went to a lonely beach.  

Jeane placed a pink towel on a rock and sat on 

it.   Suddenly, a mermaid leaped out of the 

water.   "My, my.   What happened to your 

face?" the mermaid said trying not to be rude.  

"I just grew a beard." Jeane mumbled.             

Isabelle, the mermaid, felt she should help Jeane.   So 

she pulled her in the water and turned her into a 

mermaid, then cut off her beard.
