For Mrs. Charlton

One warm summer day, on a bright and happy farm, Farmer Bill was riding to the barn in his big and red truck.

He whistled along as he got out of his truck. He went around to the back of the truck and pulled out a small pig from the back. The pig’s name was Trevor, and he was a happy pig, so being on the happy farm made him more happy. Farmer Bill carried the happy pig Trevor to the pig pen and sat him in it. “Now you go ahead and make friends,” said Farmer Bill to Trevor.

Trevor oinked happily and looked around the pen. He saw 4 other pigs by the food, one large one, and three medium size ones. Trevor happily walked over. “Hello there,” he called in his friendly voice. The three medium pigs looked over at Trevor, but turned back to their food. The big pig didn’t even look back. So, Trevor walked to the other pigs and greeted them again, and they continued to ignore Trevor.

Trevor was a bit annoyed, and so he got to the food and tried eating. But, the medium sized pigs became mean and pushed poor Trevor away. He oinked at them and nearly yelled, “Hey, what’s the big idea.” The big pig finally looked to Trevor, saying, “Obviously not you, you runt.” The big pig chuckled and turned to face Trevor, saying again, “How about you run off, you idiot!” The other pigs laughed at Trevor, and the big pig joined in. Trevor now began to feel sad, so he walked away from the other pigs. He sat off in a little corner and sighed, feeling very sad now.
