This book is dedicated to my college ethics teacher, Christine Hollermann.
Thank you for such a great semester at Alexandria Technical and Community College.

is for Aristotle
Once upon a time, there was a man named Aristotle. Aristotle argued how important our connections with friends are to human life. Here are a few reasons why friendship is so important.

is for bravery
No matter what, friends stand up for one another. They have one another's back and protect each other. They help you even when they themselves might be afraid.

is for consequences

Everything has consequences. With friends, it comes when we make poor decisions. This can be done by yourself or with their company. Either way, you are responsible for your actions.

is for discovery

Friends help us figure out who we really are. They tend to be by our side whenever life throws us a curve ball; friends are there to help when we don't know what else to do.
is for empathy

Friends show us how much they care about us when something doesn't go our way. They aren't afraid to be there to show support and be the shoulder to cry on.
is for family

Our friends start to feel like family when they are ALWAYS around. From sleepovers 24/7 to school everyday. They become a sibling we love with all of our heart.
is for generosity

Friends aren't afraid to give up something they really want in order to make your wishes come true. They know you would do it for them in return.
is for healing

We tend to be more likely to tell one of our really close friends when we are hurting instead of our parents or even siblings. We know they can put us back together and won't judge us for it. They just understand.
is for inseparable

From the first day you meet, you build a deep connection that only two people can truly share together and you become inseparable. Nothing can keep you apart just like Batman and Robin. You become partners in crime, or at least that's what your parents say!
is for joyful

When you find that friend that connects with you so well you become extremely happy. Like nothing in the world could ever go wrong and you two find yourselves as the life of the party.
is for kindness

You learn from each other. Friends teach you things you never even knew you were capable of and you become a better person because of it. Kindness, for each other and others, starts to be a daily routine.
is for listening

When you are feeling grey or just feel like you need to talk to someone, call a friend. They will be right by your side taking in every word you say. They will never let you down.
is for morals

We all have a good side and a bad side. Friends are there to warn us if something we are doing or about to do isn't right. They aren't afraid to step in because they know you'll thank them later if it keeps you out of trouble.
is for natural

You can't force someone to be your friend if they don't want to be. Don't go looking for them. They will find you.
is for obligations

Whether it's personal or professional, we all have obligations we must stick to when it comes to our friends. They ARE our friends, so they deserve to be treated like they mean something to us.
is for positive

Friends have a way of cheering us up when things we don't want to happen end up happening. They motivate us to get out of bed in the morning and find positivity in each day.
is for quality

Quality over quantity. It's more important to have only one friend who loves you for who you are than a whole group of people who wouldn't be there for you when you need them.
