Respiratory System
The main function of the respiratory system is to take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide.
Major organs include: mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, bronchioles, lungs, and the nose and nasal cavity.

Fun fact: The right lung is slightly larger than the left
Circulatory System
The circulatory system transports blood which carries oxygen and nutrients through out the body.
Major organs include: heart, blood vessels, blood, and lungs.

Fun fact: the heart beats around 3 billion times in the average persons life.
Digestive System
The digestive system breaks down food into small molecules where they are then absorbed and transported through out the body.
Major organs include: salivary glands, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and the rectum.

Fun fact: 1.7 liters of saliva is produced each day.
Nervous System
The main function of the nervous system is the control of the body and communication of its parts. The sensory nerves gather information where it is then transported to the central nervous system and is interpreted. Motor nerves convey information from the CNS to the muscles and glands of the body.
Major organs: Brain, spinal cord, nerves, meninges, and cerebrospinal fluid.

Fun fact: the number of nerve cells in our body exceeds the number of stars in the Milky Way.
Muscular System
The main function of the muscular system is movement. The second function is the maintenance of posture and body position. It also helps in the protection of internal organs.
Major organs: Visceral muscle, cardiac muscle, and skeletal muscle.

Fun fact: Muscles make up about 40% of the total body weight.
Skeletal System
The skeletal system is used for support, movement, protection for internal organs, blood cell production, calcium storage and endocrine regulation.
Major organs: bones, ligaments, joints, tendons, and cartilage.
Fun fact: the longest bone in the body is the femur.
