I am Tim the tiger and I want to talk to you about how animals make adaptations. An adaptation is a change an animal goes through so that it can stay safe and secure in its environment.

I'm Jake the jaguar and I use my spots to blend in with my environment when I am hunting. I am also a great swimmer which helps me catch fish. My claws allow me to climb trees quickly, and my paws help me to follow my prey without being noticed.

I'm Cranky the crocodile and I use the sun to warm me up and the shade to cool me down because I am cold-blooded. I have special muscles that I use to keep water out of my nostrils.

I'm Ollie the octopus and I squirt out ink in order to allow myself to escape when I'm in danger. I can also blend in with my surroundings in order to hunt better or hide.

I'm Karen the kangaroo and I raise my young in a pouch on my belly which helps me keep them safe. I can go for a long time without water. I am built to jump. My tail helps me to balance while hopping.

I'm Rick the rhino. I use my horn to fight off predators. I have thick, layered skin that keeps me from being hurt by thorns. I also have padded feet to help protect my legs.

I'm Sandy the rattlesnake. I use my rattle to warn enemies not to disturb me, or I will bite them. I have a great sense of smell and I can detect heat given off by prey. I can also fit into small holes in order to find prey.

I'm Betty the butterfly and to my right is Beth. Butterflies use their wings to fly. Some butterflies use their wings to hide from predators. Most butterflies use their wings to blend in with their surroundings.
