Goodwyn the Gopher Tortoise lives in the dry, sandy, canopy land of Florida.

Goodwyn is a herbivore, so he likes to eat grass, fruit, berries, and even flowers.

He can also eat prickly pear cactus needles! Also, since he gets his water from plants and dew, he rarely drinks water!

Guess what! Goodwyn is about to celebrate his 95th birthday in a couple weeks!

Goodwyn also has a very special feature that none of his friends have. His front legs are like shovels and he has very sturdy and strong back legs!

With his shovel like strong legs, Goodwyn can dig burrows. These burrows shelter him from the sun and predators.

It can even be a home to his friends, such as Raegan the Rabbit, his best friend!

Although not everyone in Goodwyn's neighborhood is nice to him like Raegan is. For instance, Snyder the Snake and his gang of followers

They always make fun of Goodwyn's shovel-like legs, calling them weird.

One day, Goodwyn was sick and tired of all the jokes Synder was making about his legs.

So he decided to stop ever burrowing again and went to hide in the back of his own burrow.

Weeks went by with Goodwyn staying in his burrow only allowing Raegan to come in to play or bring him grass and flowers to eat.

But then one day Snyder showed up sweaty from slithering and looked very worried.
