is for American Revolution
The American Revolution was fought so that the 13 colonies could be it's own country. It was under control of Great Britain, a country treating them very unfairly and the colonies decided to leave.



is for Battle of Lexington and Concord.
The start of the war was at the city of Lexington in Massachusetts. The colonies kept their weapons at the city of Concord and the British went there to destroy their weapons.


is for Constitution

The United States constitution was written by Thomas Jefferson in 1789. It says all the laws and rights the people have that the government must protect.
is for Daughters of Liberty

This group of women contributed to the revolution by not buying British products. They spread the word about American owned businesses.








is for England

Why did the colonies want to leave English rule so badly? The British were making people pay a lot of money for things. The Americans also did not get represented. The king of England at the time was King George III.




is for Federalist Party

The Federalist party was a political group who wanted the national government to have more control than the state government. Many people did not like this.
is for George Washington

George Washington was a Founding Father and was a general during the American revolution. He lead the army to much success. He ended up being the first United State's president.

is for Hamilton

Alexander Hamilton was a Founding Father as well. He was the first person to lead the Treasury department. He also led the Federalist Party.
is for Intolerable Acts

The Intolerable Acts was created because of the Boston Tea Party. The British government was very angry that the colonist wasted their tea, so they created five laws to punish him.
is for Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. This said why the 13 colonies wanted to break up with Britain. He was also the ambassador of France and was the governor of his home state, Virginia.
is for Knowledge



The Founding Fathers used the knowledge they gained from spies and began winning important battles.

is for Loyalists

The Loyalists caused a tear in society. They were people who remained loyal to King George while living in the colonies. This caused violence in a land where people were against King George.






is for Minutemen

Minutemen where a group of soldiers who could be ready to fight, as their name says, in a matter of minutes. They fought in the Battle of Lexington and Concord.

is for Navy

We all know we now have a strong Navy, but during the revolution, Britain had a very strong Navy. The colonies did not have a very strong Navy at all during the revolution, until France became their ally.





is for Old Glory

The United States flag was nicknamed "Old Glory" back in the late 1700's. People have felt American pride and glory for over 250 years!
is for Patriotism

The 13 small colonies defeated a global superpower and became their own free country. So, of course, the colonists felt very proud to be apart of the new United States of America.




is for Quartering Act

It says in our Bill of Rights that the government is not allowed to make us quarter troops. The British made the colonists keep British soldiers in their homes, feed them, and completely support them. This made the colonists very upset.
is for Revere

Ever heard the phrase "The British are coming!"? This was said by Paul Revere. He went through all of the colonies to warn them that the British were coming to attack them.



is for Sons of Liberty

The Sons of Liberty were a group of men who wanted to be free from England. It was started Samuel Adam. They worked very hard to make sure that the colonies were freed.
