Once there were three fairies. Their names were Rose, Honey, and Sugarplum. Honey coaxed the sun up every morning with her magic. Sugarplum was in charge of the moon, and Rose did all the other things, such as rain and flowers. They were good friends, and called themselves the Nature Fairies.

One day Sugarplum stayed up too late watching TV, and didn't wake up at 5:30 A.M. like she was supposed to. The moon was out until 9 o'clock that morning, and Honey couldn't raise the sun. Rose was mad because all her rain froze into hail and messed up her flowers.

Then Honey did something bad. She yelled at Sugarplum to wake up! Sugarplum was so startled she let the moon go down too fast. Honey was just as mad and rose the sun too high. All of Rose's hail turned to water and evaporated on the spot.

Rose was so annoyed that she threw a thunderstorm at the other two, and they got all wet. Sugarplum said she'd had enough and moved to Jupiter. Jupiter is a planet far away.

Without Sugarplum, the moon wouldn't rise. Honey and Rose worked together to try to bring the night, but the sky just looked worse.

Finally, they fixed the sky. Rose began collecting the water vapor to make rain again, and Honey started adjusting the sun. Then they had to do all of Sugarplum's chores as well. Sweeping the beach, washing volcanoes, scolding the moon for coming up too early...

By the end of the day they were very tired.

In fact, they were so tired that they slept too late. Luckily they woke up just in time. But the moon was enjoying the extra time and wouldn't leave. The fairies asked politely, then more forcefully. Finally, Honey grabbed the moon and pulled it out of the sky. It was a bad idea. The moon was so mad it raced away, all the way to Jupiter.
