Then, when it’s my naptime, WaWa holds me in the rocking chair and tells me about when she was a little girl.

When WaWa was little, she had five brothers and sisters and lots of cousins to play with. They would ride bicycles and play hide & seek. They would also have picnics and build forts.

Once they even built an Indian village on a place called the Red Hill. Sometimes they would pick blackberries at J. E. Cooper’s Field. They loved the berries, but the chigger bites made them itch.

When WaWa was little, she had two big sisters who had pretty clothes. When they got too big for their dresses, WaWa wanted to wear them, but she was still too little.

So then WaWa’s mommy would make her a pretty dress on her sewing machine to make her happy.

When WaWa was little, she lived right next door to Miss Polly’s Kindergarten. She could walk there all by herself and she could play on the playground with her brothers and sisters even when the kindergarten was closed.

When WaWa was little, her daddy would drive them to a place called Turkey Creek to go fishing. Her daddy would sing to her and tell her stories. They would have RC Colas and oatmeal cream pies.

WaWa says she didn’t really like to fish. She just wanted to be with her daddy.

When WaWa was little, she could walk to the movie theater all by herself. She would buy Coca-Colas, popcorn, and lots of candy and she would still have money left from her allowance.
