To my 7th Grade Science Teacher, Danine Kelly.

In this book you are going to read about our planets in our solar system. Can you guess how many planets are in the solar system? There are 8 planets!

Let's start with planet number one. This planet is Mercury; Mercury is the smallest planet in the whole solar system!
It is also the closest to the sun. Mercury is a grey colored dusty planet. Maybe you'll go there someday.

Planet number two! Venus! Venus is a brightly colored orange planet that is real cloudy. It rotates opposite other planets. Venus is also very hot and wouldn't be able to hold life.

Planet number three. Earth! Hey Earth is where we live! Earth is the only planet that can hold life. It is able to have oxygen, water, and food so the animals and people can survive. Earth isn't too hot or cold it is just right for the humans likings.

Planet number four! Mars! Mars is one of the most famous planets out of our solar system. People think that someday we will be able to live on mars in great big domes! Rovers, big car like robots explore mars to see if they can find any sightings of life.

Planet number five. Jupiter is the biggest planet in the entire solar system! It is what we call a gas giant. It also has a huge storm the roams on the surface called the red eye.

Planet number six. Saturn has huge rings made out of ice, metal, and dust circling it. It is the second largest planet and it is very cold there. Nobody would be able to survive there since it is so cold, and so dark away from Earth.

Planet number seven. Uranus is one of the last planets but we aren't done yet! Uranus is a light blue colored planet because it is made out of ice and dust! If you go to Uranus make sure to wear a snowsuit because it isn't very warm there.
