That's right, the famous trams of Amsterdam.
Which other cities have a tram system?
Trams are electric-powered coaches that are designed to travel along rails that are built on the streets. Some trams are attached to overhead electric cables.
A lot of cities have trams instead of an underground metro, as it is easier to build, and better for the environment by buses, as they run from electricity!
The tram network is one of the most popular parts of Amsterdam's public transport system - trams are reliable and they run often.
There are two tram 'stations' outside Amsterdam Central Station, one on the East side and one on the West side. Some of the trams run towards the city centre, that many tourists use, and others go to different neighbourhoods around the city.
But how do you know where you are going?
How do you decide which tram to take?
So each tram route has a number, for example, the number 14 tram, or number 5.
Do you know of any tram routes? Where does it take you?
When travelling by tram in Amsterdam, most local people use the public transport OV chip card. You have to check in and out, and with that, you pay for your journey. You can add money to your chip card, and it is much easier than having to buy a ticket every time!
In most Amsterdam trams, there is a ticket attendant who can help you with directions or sell you a ticket if you don't have one.
This is really helpful for tourists who don't know the city well, or don't understand Dutch.
