Her full name is Melanie Adele Martinez.

She is a American singer, writer, music video director, and photographer. She was born in Astoria, Queens and raised in Baldwin, New York on Long Island. She first participated in the MSG varsity talent show during her junior year of high school and subsequently rose to prominence in 2012 after appearing on the American talent vocal show ''The Voice''.

She auditioned singing Britney Spears's "Toxic", and made it to the top 6 before being eliminated in the fifth week of live shows. After "The Voice", Melanie was heavily supported by fans, and produced her first music video for her single "Dollhouse". Melanie later released her debut studio album "Crybaby" which debuted as #6 on the Billboard 200!

Melanie was born on April 27, 1995. She attended plaza elementary school, her teacher Mr. Nadien teached her how to sing. During her sophomore year, she won the talent show at Baldwin high school. At the age of 16, she dyed her hair one side blond and the other black after Cruella De Ville from "101 Dalmatians"On April 7, 2014 she was announced  she was going on tour for the "Crybaby" album.

After Dollhouse she released a song called "Carousel". When the "American Horror Story: Freak show" was released, Melanie's song "Carousel" was featured in it. This helped "Carousel" become popular, and Melanie released a music video for it. It was released on October 15th, 2014. Also the "Dollhouse EP" had Carousel on the album. The album is about a relationship that doesn't workout. It also came out in the "Crybaby" album too!
