There once lived a Panda at the edge of the woods.

The Panda lived a very lonely life. She had no family and no friends. "I wish I had a family. I wish I had friends," she said.

One day, a turtle crawled out of the trees. "What are you doing all alone?" Turtle asked Panda.

"I have no family or friends," Panda replied. "I will be your friend!" Turtle exclaimed. "I lost my family and can't find them."

Panda and Turtle became best friends right away. They had sleepovers and s'mores every night.

One day, Turtle said, "I miss my family. I want to go look for them." Panda responded, "I will help you. But, do you know where to start looking?"

Turtle remembered his family living by a big pond. "But I don't know how to get there."

"We will find them! We will go into the woods and ask everyone if they know where the pond is!" Panda proclaimed.

Very early the next morning, Panda and Turtle packed a backpack filled with water, binoculars, and s'mores.

They headed into the woods. Panda and Turtle encountered a family of squirrels. "Do you know where a pond is?," said Panda. "No, but I know where the tallest tree is," said Father Squirrel.

Panda and Turtle encountered a fox. "Do you know where a pond is?" said Panda. "No, but I know where the tallest tree is," said Fox.

Panda and Turtle encountered a deer. "Do you know where a pond is?" said Panda. "No, but I know where the tallest tree is," said Deer.

"Do you know where a pond is?" said Panda. "No, but I know where the tallest tree is," said Beaver.

Getting tired, Panda and Turtle rested by a nearby tree. "We will never find that pond or my family," Turtle cried. Panda put her paw on Turtle to comfort him.
