This book is dedicated to the endangered red panda and to those who strive to help them recover.

In the eastern Himalayas of southwest China there lived a young red panda (Ailurus fulgens) named Hóng and his mother.
They might have "panda" in their name, but Hóng and his mother are not really bears at all. Also known as the red bear-cat, red pandas are more closely related to raccoons and skunks.
During the day mother and Hóng would lay around in their favorite tree or maybe go munch on some bamboo.
At night they'd go out and hunt for insects, small reptiles, and birds.
