Zelda is a small 10 year old girl who only has one arm. When she was born her arm had a defect so the doctors had to cut it off. She is a champion swimmer who is striving for the goal of winning the national championships and doesn’t let her arm get in her way. Sometimes she can feel insecure about only having one arm. She currently trains at boroondara swim club in a squad with Kate, Jo and Mellisa.

Though she has faced many obstacles in her life, people are always saying to her "Are you sure you should be swimming with that arm?" She tries to keep her head up and smile whilst saying "Yes I'm fine" although inside she can feel self conscious.

One day just to add to her list of problems, a group of girls from her swim team who she thought were her friends, came and told her she had no chance of winning the national championships because she only had one arm. Zelda was very uspet on what she heard, and went home to tell her mum. Her mum consoled her and was going to talk to her swim coach tomorrow.

Zelda thought things would improve, but she was wrong. When her mum talked to the coach the Coach agreed with the bully girls and told Zelda's mum that it would be unlikey that Zelda would even make the qualifying heat. When Zelda heard what the coach said she lost all faith and didn’t want to go to swim training anymore. After 2 weeks Zelda found a sense of hope and starting swim practice again.

Zelda moved to another swim club where the coach was more supportive. Her coach taught her new techniques and she trained harder than ever, she really wanted to win nationals and prove to her old team mates that she could win even with one arm.
