Hey kids, let me ask you a question. Do you think it’s possible for a rose to grow from concrete? Well, let me tell you a story about a kid name JB and how he made a rose grow from a crack in the concrete. Before we get into the story, let’s learn about our main character, JB. JB stayed in a six story apartment on the west side of Brooklyn, New York. Where he stayed was not a nice neighborhood.  People did a lot of terrible things, but that was all his mom could afford. His mom did her best to make a better living for them.

One year for JB’s birthday his mom couldn’t get him the shoes he wanted. However, she still wanted to get him something, so she got him a rose seed. Even though JB was upset that he couldn’t get the shoes he so much desired, he understood that that was all his mom could afford. So to make her feel better, he said thanks mom and gave her the biggest kiss on Earth.

But JB had one problem. He stayed in the city, so where would he plant the rose seed? JB came up with a great idea. “ I’ll walk around the the block and try to find somewhere to plant it,” JB thought to himself. So, the next day  he searched far and wide to try to find somewhere to plant the precious rose seed, but couldn’t  find anywhere to plant it until he saw a crack in the concrete with a little bit of soil showing.

With a spot in mind, JB waited another day before planting the rose seed. The next day JB got a cup of water and grabbed the rose seed, went to the crack in the concrete, and planted it and watered it. Everyday for the next couple of weeks, he would come home after school and tend to the seed.
