
Islam originated in the Arabian peninsula in the Middle East in 622 A.D.

The beliefs are summed up mostly in the five pillars.
Shahadah (1) means there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet. Salah (2) means having to do a prayer five times a day. Zakah (3) means the giving of Alms. Sawan (4) means fasting during Ramadan. Hajj (5) means making the pilgrimage to Mecca.
The holy book for Islam is called the Qur'an. It is the main source of laws and education and teachings of rightful beliefs, praiseworthy ethics, and decent deeds, all of which are the pillars of the prosperity of man and human society

Pronouncing God's name before eating is a tradition for Muslims. The reasoning is so they recognize Gods blessings upon them.
