Alright well going on, I am going to be your guide of what to expect from your new favorite class....
ART CLASS

Alright kids so lets start with the basics, COLORS! ohhhh....Aren't they pretty to look at?

The Color Wheel is a visual representation of colors arranged according to their chromatic relationship, which is fancy for a BIG wheel of beautiful colors, similar to a rainbow!

These colors are base colors and cannot be created by other colors but are the foundation for creating sooooo many other colors
So on this color wheel there are 3 primary colors; Red, Yellow, and Blue.

.....and as you guessed it, Tertiary Colors are colors created when you mix both a primary and secondary color together.
The Secondary Colors are colors that are created when you mix 2 primary colors together. Those colors are Orange, Purple, Green.

Cool colors
bbrrrrrrrr.....
Cool colors are going to be your blues, greens and light purples. Cool colors remind us of water and sky, even ice and snow. When I think of cool colors i think of winter time.

Warm colors are made with orange, red, yellow and combinations of these and similar colors. As the name indicates, they tend to make you think of warm things, such sunlight and heat. Warm colors make me think of summer time and a huge field of flowers!
ahhhhhh..... summer, my favorite time of year

Now that we have talked about colors, we can move on to different types of materials you can expect to use in art class while creating your masterpieces through out the year.

Pencils are at the basis of most art pieces. Many artist like to use pencils for sketching as it is easy to correct mistakes. Pencils don't always have to be used as the foundation of your work, many artist have used pencils are the sole component in their art pieces.

Pencils also come in color, which are great for coloring, outlining, tracing, and shading. Great thing about them is most of them are erasable too!

Oil pastels are another fun material you will get to use in art class. They are oil-wax crayons so they are a little different than your normal Crayola crayons.

Oil pastels glide effortlessly across your paper and are great for layering colors to create new colors. While it isn't required you can use brushes to smear colors to create different textures to your artwork.
