"How Old Faithful Came To Be" is a story to explain the world. This story is a Native American Creation Myth.
Andrew Schechinger

Hinto was a young man of the Wind River Native American Tribe. Hinto and his tribe have encountered hard times as they have been unsuccessful at hunting. Hinto and his family are now staving. In these desperate times Hinto plans a lone hunting trip to save his tribe.

"I will leave early in the morning on a lone hunt" announced Hinto. Hinto's wife responded,"You must not go alone." "I must find food for the family" explained Hinto. Hinto prepared that night for the hunt, and did not get any sleep. He got his bow and arrows ready, and packed enough food to last one week.

Hinto left early the next morning for the long hike to the forest. He got to the forest at the end of they day and set up camp. He started a fire to keep warm, and went to bed to get some rest for the next days hunt.

He set out for his hike early the next morning with high hopes. He walked and walked for hours before stumbling onto a whole herd of buffaloes. He stayed quiet as he hid behind the trees.

As Hinto hid behind the trees, he heard something in the distance. It almost sounded life the buffalo were talking to each other. Hinto listened closely and could not make out what they were saying.

Hinto drew his arrow, and aimed for the biggest buffalo. He fired and missed! The arrow stuck right into the ground in the middle of the buffalo herd. The buffalo didn't even seem to notice it was there.

Hinto did not want to give up, so he fired three more times and missed each time. Every time he shot an arrow they landed almost in the same spot, and the buffalo didn't even flinch.

Hinto was about to give up, but he toke his arrow and prayed to the gods. "Please let me kill this buffalo to feed my family" Hinto bagged. He fired his last shot and missed. The arrow again, landed in the same spot.
