"I'm not going to school today!" exclaims William as he stood by the beach.
"Why?" asked Mom as she kept looking for the school bus to come.
"I've never been to the school before, I'm not going to know anybody and what if the kids don't like me?" William said sadly.
"They will love you and there will be someone to help you, all you have to do is be brave enough to take the first step," Mom said.
"I don't know if I can," William said as he looked out over the ocean.

As William looks at the ground, he sees a bird jumping up and down and trying hard to flap his wings.
"Look Mom! That bird looks like he's trying to fly. I'm going to see if I can help him," says William.

William walks over to the bird and says, "What's the matter little bird?"
The bird quickly replies, "I'm afraid to fly!"
"WOW! You can talk?," exclaims William.
"Yep. My name is Blue. What's yours?"
"It's William. Why are you afraid to fly?" says William to Blue. "Because I've never done it before," Blue says shaking his head.

"Well, I know you can do it if you try. You just have to have the courage to take the first step. Here, I'll hold you up and you start flapping your wings and then when you're ready, jump and fly!" said William.
"Okay, I'll try but I'm scared," said Blue.
"I know. The first step is hard, but you never know you can't do it if you don't try," William said.

William picks up Blue and he begins to flap his wings and after a minute says, "I'm scared!"
"It's okay, just close your eyes and jump," says, William.
Blue closes his eyes while flapping his wings and jumps. He soars into the sky.

"WOW! This is amazing! Thank you for your help William!" exclaims Blue as he flies toward the ocean.
"You're welcome!" Yells William as he watches Blue fly towards the beach.

While flying over the beach, Blue sees a baby sea turtle sitting in the sand staring at the water. Blue flies down next to the sea turtle and says, "What's the matter?"
"I don't want to go in the water. I'm afraid I won't know anyone in there," Says the baby sea turtle.

"I'm Blue. What's your name little squirt?"
While smiling a little, the baby sea turtle says, "Actually, it's Squirt!" Blue and Squirt both begin to laugh.

"You can always make a friend, just go up and talk to someone. All you have to do is take the first step and get into the water," said Blue.
"Okay, I'll try." Says Squirt as he slowly begins to walk into the water. As he begins walking he sees another sea turtle who says hello and asks him to be his friend. He quickly says yes and they begin to walk together into the water.

Smiling, Squirt looks up at Blue and yells, "Thanks Blue!"
"You're welcome! Enjoy the water little Squirt," Blue exclaims as he flies away.
