Stuart was annoyed. He was in his kitchen and found some weird cookies as a snack.

His dad said they were special cookies from Argentina. But Stuart didn’t like cookies from Argentina, he liked cookies from the United States.

That day, his dad had spent all afternoon making special tacos. But Stuart didn't like tacos.

Stuart only liked the things from the United States. He only liked hamburgers, mac and cheese, and chicken nuggets.

Later that week, Stuart went to the library after school. He found that there was a chef there that was teaching kids how to cook.

TODAY!

Maybe I’ll learn how to make my own mac and cheese, he thought. Stuart was very excited and went to see the chef.

TODAY!

The chef introduced herself as Chef Sofie. “We’re going to learn how to make lots of different things today from different countries!”

But Stuart didn’t like that.

While everyone else was making their food, Stuart was standing in the corner. He was pouting by himself!

Chef Sofie came over to see what was wrong. “Why aren’t you cooking with everyone, Stuart?”

“I don’t like things from other places, they’re weird!” Stuart stuck his tongue out.

Chef Sofie smiled and laughed. “Oh Stuart, let me show you some things!”

Chef Sofie brought over a bowl of soup with a spoon. “This is gazpacho, it’s soup from Spain! Try it!”

“Gaz poncho? How do you say it?” Stuart was confused. Chef Sofie laughed. “It’s gaz-pa-cho.”

Stuart frowned at the cold soup. “Soup is supposed to be hot, this is weird!”

Chef Sofie asked him one more time to try it. Stuart sighed and tried the soup.

“Wow, Chef Sofie! That soup is really good!” Chef Sofie smiled.

“Would you like to try something else, Stuart?” He nodded his head. Where would he go next?

Grabbing a plate, Chef Sofie presented a pancake-like food. “This is a crêpe. Try it!”

"A what now?" Stuart was again confused by the funny name.

"It's a cray-p, but spelled funny. It's French, you'll love it!" Chef Sofie was very excited.

“This is incredible, Chef Sofie! Another one, please!”

Chef Sofie bounced around the room. She was so happy and excited! Stuart was finally seeing what she saw!
