Without a nervous system, you would be paralyzed ... FOREVER! You would not be able to move a muscle. It would as if you were in ice!
Without a nervous system, you would not be able to grow, eat think, breathe or even live!

The nervous system consists of 3 parts - brain, spinal cord and nerves.

The brain is the main part of the nervous system. It stores thoughts & memories, but it also controls all of the other body systems by telling them what to do. It does this by sending and receiving electrical messages very fast.
The spinal cord is the second part of the nervous system. It receives electrical messages from the nerves and sends them to the brain. Then, the brain finds a solution and sends an electrical instruction to the spinal cord, which sends it back to the nerves.

The nerves is the third part of the nervous system. It receives and sends electrical messages from and to the spinal cord, which sends it to the brain. Nerves are all over your body. They are in your skin and muscles. They make something feel cold or hot and they are always sending electrical messages to the brain.
