
Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, NY.

He attended high school in Wilmington North Carolina where he was removed from his schools basketball team in his sophomore year. He later received a scholarship to the University of North Carolina.

Jordan left college one year before graduation to enter the NBA draft and was picked by the Chicago Bulls.

During his first season, Michael Jordan averaged 28 points per game. He quickly became a fan favorite appearing on Sports Illustrated.


After earning the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, Jordan broke his ankle causing him to miss out in 61 games. After returning late in the season, he set a playoff record by scoring 63 points in a first round game.
