Just a few years ago, in a small pond in a rain forest, there lived some tadpoles. The tadpoles were excited and training for the big tadpole race.

Josiah was the smallest tadpole in the pond. He had smooth green skin with orange stripes. He had a bigger sister named Kittle who he lived with. Like all tadpoles, Josiah had a small tail.

Josiah and the other tadpoles were in the pond practicing every day. Kittle was practicing too. She beat him every time. Josiah felt so embarrassed.

All of sudden, it hit Josiah! He had no chance to win this race!!!

"I wish I had never entered this contest!" Josiah yelled angrily.

Kittle knew she had to help her brother!

"Hey, Josiah, I can help you! I have a strategy to help you win." Josiah and Kittle practiced all day. When Josiah was swimming, Kittle told him move his tail back and forth quickly. She held onto it and it became longer. They practiced more and more.
