This book is dedicated to the
Old westbury Women's basketball Team because I believe that we are all princesses and we will always choose a basketball game over the royal ball.

Once upon a time not long ago, lived a very beautiful princess named Raina. Raina was the only child of the King and the Queen, but Raina was nothing like the other princesses. She was very athletic, and loved basketball. The Queen did not approve of Raina's love for basketball. She felt as a princess, Raina had much more to offer. Whenever Raina got overwhelmed with her mother's protests, she would seek protection in her Fairy godmother Wanda.
"Raina basketball is a DISTRACTION !! YOU ARE A PRINCESSS and you should be preparing for the Royal Ball,"said the Queen.
The Queen wanted nothing more but for her only daughter to marry a prince.

In Raina's world nothing mattered more than basketball. She dreamed about it often and couldn't eat, drink or sleep without the thought of the game.
One night at the dinner table with the King and Queen, Raina mentioned that she needed a new pair of sneakers for her big game. The Queen completely ignored Raina's comment and started talking about the Royal Ball.

"The Royal Ball is this weekend, Raina did you start thinking about what color dress you wanted to wear?" asked the Queen.
"This weekend !? said Raina with surprise in her voice.
"Yes this Saturday," the Queen replied with certainty.
"Oh, umm purple is fine mother" said Raina with uncertainty as she remembered that her big game was on that same day.
Raina was afraid to tell her mother that her game was on the same day as the Royal Ball. She knew the Queen would be upset and not let her go to the game. The princess did not want to disappoint her mother, but she also did not want to miss her game which was so important to her.

Raina began to cry. She was confused and was torn between basketball and making her mother happy.
Being at this game was more important to Raina than anything, but she knew if she played in the game her mother would be mad and probably never forgive her .

Later that night she got a vist from her Fairy godmother Wanda.......

"Don't cry Raina, you are a beautiful princess. I know you are afraid of disappointing your mother, but you can not keep this a secret. Tell the Queen about your game!! Let your mother know how you feel. Your mother loves you and she only wants to see you happy. Trust me, she will understand."
