I'd like to dedicate this book to my mom who made me stay up past 12:00 AM to finish this book. Thank You!

Just like any normal day, two best friends decided to hang out on a Saturday. Both Emily and Stephanie were bored while they both sat on Emily's pink and white floral bed spread on their phones flipping through Instagram and just watching different tutorials on Youtube.
" What should we do today,Emily?" Sephanie says

"Maybe we could go to the movie." Emily suggested.
" No that's something basic."
"Ooh we could go to the mall and shop endlessly and free makeup samples."
" Um, no. That's even more basic." stephanie says rolling her eyes. Anybody who knew Stephanie really well would say that she is really picky about a lot of things and took a long time to decide what she wants.
" Well, I know another family moved in the neighborhood from across the street, maybe we should be friendly and say hi to them!" Emily says with a slight gleam in her eyes. Between the friends, Emily was the friendly one and always jumped at new opportunities.
" I don't know can't we just stay here and watch movies or something." Stephanie whines flopping lazily onto the bed.
"Come on it will be fine. It's the nice thing to do as neighbors. Plus I think they have a daughter our age and she'll probably will be going to the same school as us anyway. It would be nice if we got to know her."
" Fine twenty minutes and that's it. I don't want to stay too long. We barely know them."
" Okay. That's fine with me." Emily said smoothly.

Both girls let their parents know that they were going to say hello to the new neighbors just so they wouldn't worry.
" Okay but keep your phone on you so I can call to check on you from time to time. And make sure it has enough battery before you leave too,Emily." says Emily's mom. She was sometimes overprotective which bothered Emily, but then again she was the only child. Sometimes she wishes she can go one day without her mother hovering over her with anything she does.
"Okay mom." Emily answers back from the door on her way out.

It was really hot outside with the sun beaming down on them as they walked their way over. The wind was slightly blowing through their hair and making all the trees swing from left to right. They approached the house. The decorations on the house looked welcoming. A welcome mat was placed underneath the door with potted flowers surrounding it, and on the door itself hung a seasonal fall looking wreath. They rung the doorbell once. Maybe they're not home Emily thought.
" Well, looks like they're not home." Stephanie says starting to turn away and getting ready to walk back home.

"Yeah I guess we can go then." Just as soon they were starting to leave, the door swung open. A woman that looked like she was in her mid thirties stood in the doorway. She was wearing a floral dress with pearl jewelry anyplace it could go and with her hair styled in an elegant bun. If Stephanie and Emily didn't know any better they would have told her that she looked like she could be a Stepford Wife. "yes?" the woman answered pleasantly.

hello?
"Oh hi"- Emily said smiling and nudged Stephanie to do the same so the woman wouldn't suspect them as troubling teenagers who wanted to waste their time-"sorry if we bothered you, but we just wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood because we thought it was something friendly to do. My name is Emily and she is Stephanie."
" Oh thank you. That is so nice of you guys. You know these days you barely see teenagers do such a friendly thing like this. My name is Gabrielle." Gabrielle said. " Hey before you guys leave, there is someone I want you guys to meet."

Emily had an idea in her head that maybe Stephanie and her would get to meet her daughter. "Emily, ten minutes left and that's it." Stephanie say pointing to the time on her Iphone that read 3:20 PM.
"Okay, Stephanie I get you don't want to be here. You can just leave if that will make you happy."giggled Emily with a playful roll her eyes.
" Thank you. That's all i wanted. Call me if anything happens."

Five minutes later with the door slightly ajar Emily could somewhat see that Gabrielle was talking to someone from another room. " Come on and meet them. They are really nice girls and I'm sure they would like to get to know you." Few seconds later came Gabrielle at the door with another girl who was pretty and looked like she was maybe 16. The girl was also wearing pajamas with frogs all over the bottoms and cupcakes all over on the t-shirt. "Emily I want you to meet someone. This is my daughter Kira. She's 15 and will be going to the school as you. I thought maybe you guys would want to get to know her bet- where's your friend Stephanie?" Gabrielle asked as she tries to search from her door with her eyes.

" Oh she left a few minutes ago. Her mom called her because she had to do something." Emily didn't want to include the fact that Stephanie only left because she was getting bored and didn't want to be there in the first place.
"Well, I just wanted I just wanted you guys to meet my daughter Kira to get to know her better."
"Nice to meet you" Emily said sweetly. She could tell there was something off about Kira but couldn't quite get it just yet. Emily could tell Kira was not in the mood at his moment. Anyone could tell that KIra was comfortable where she was before she was pulled to come to the door.

Emily felt a little guilty for taking away Kira's peace time and she looked a little annoyed but also tired. But who could blame her? It was a Saturday afterall.
Breaking the awkward silence between the three them, Emily said "Well, I'm sure my mom is expecting me back by now and I don't want to keep her waiting or she will start to worry."
"Okay well we don't want to keep you waiting. Right, Kira?" Gabrielle said. Kira didn't once make eye contact with Emily or her mom throughout the whole time.
