What is figure skating...

From novice through senior-level competition, skaters generally perform two programs (short and long) which, depending on the discipline, may include spins, jumps, elements they have learned from moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals and other elements or moves.

There is significant variation in the dimensions of ice rinks, for exemple, Olympic-sized rinks have dimensions of 30 m × 60 m
Ice quality is judged by smoothness, friction, hardness, and brittleness.Typically after every two warm-up groups, an ice resurfacer cleans and smooths the surface of the ice sheet. Inadequate ice quality may affect skaters' performances.

Matching costumes are not required in pair skating and ice dancing.
