There are many animals that see differently from us. The reason for this is so they can see food, hide from predators and find mates.

Did you know that almost everything in the universe is invisible to us? Our eyes see on something called the Electromagnetic spectrum. This spectrum shows every type of light that exists, and most of it is invisible to humans.

Light moves in waves, but not like the waves in the ocean. These waves carry energy and how big they are depend on how much energy they carry.

These light waves can be as big as buildings! When they are really big like this, it means they don't carry a lot of energy. Some waves can be as small as an atom! This means they carry lots of energy.

Humans can only see on what is called the visible light spectrum. This is the segment of the Electromagnetic spectrum that is visible to our eyes.

Our eyes have something, located in the retina, called cones and rods that filter out every color we see. These are the colors that are on the visible light spectrum. The cones and rods are the parts of the eye that determines what colors we can and cannot see.
