The International Skating Union held an annual short track championship from 1978 to 1980. The first official world championship took place in 1981. Short Track Speed skating is rooted in pack style racing that was popular in North America during the 20th century.

Lets jump into learning about the rules and how to play Short Track Speed Skating. To play this sport you skate around an oval track the size of a hockey rink several times in groups with 4-8 people. You race against each other not against the clock and the top two finishers advance to the next round.
