It was a bright normal day in a small town of Nunam Iqua, it was nice and frosty everywhere, though it was playful to many. The children laughed and enjoyed the day as the day went by.
A family had an idea to go for a trip to a close town where child Mumlluq which was the child's name in their yup'ik language though they spoke english and yup'ik but therefor she was 6 years of age and had never been there before.
Mumlluq was exited and was so energized she got herself ready quickly and didn't stop until she was dressed. They put the mother and daughter in the sled and were on their way.
They took little breaks on the way to let the dogs rest. It was a good thing because Mumlluq was able to run around and play.
Some time went by and the father said to the child Aqumlluten, "sit down." The daughter said, i-ii (yes), she sat down and started on there way.
A while of time went by and Mumlluq saw the village of Alakanuk and she said, "yay were here."
As they went in Alakanuk village they headed to their iluq: relatives, house where their relatives were in joy for Mumlluq to finally be there.
Mumlluq wanted to play out so she asked her father and mother but she said, Ill be back in 20 minutes but ill eat uquleq: holybread.
The father said waniwa paltuugen: here is your coat, and she went out. A while later she went to try find one person she knew.
She started looking for her iluq (relative) who she met when he visited Nunam Iqua. She looked everywhere but could not find him.
After a while went by she gave up and went back, but she realized she had never been there. She looked and couldn't find her relatives house. Her mother started to worry saying to the husband, "Mumlluq had never been here before, do you think she will manage," she asked.
The father said, "its alright, she could manage to find her way. She probably knows where to go already." But Mumlleq couldn't manage, she had never been there before. Thirty minutes passed and her mother got dressed and went looking for her.
A man was walking and saw Mumlluq looking and the man asked, natmurtegatarcit?(where are you going?)
Mumlluq then said, "to my iluq's (cousin's) house."
He said, ok do you know where it is? She said no, then the man said tangrraten-gaa tan'gaurluut yaani?: do you see those boys over there?,
