He has a sister and brother named Pam Payton and Eddie Payton they are the children of Peter and Alyne Payton their parents. He was a star running back at Jackson State University. Payton broke the rushing record in 1984, when his total went was 12,312 yards. He stopped playing football in 1987. He had a rushing total of 16,726 yards. Payton was a strong runner and pass receiver who did not get hurt easily. He won the Super Bowl in 1985 against the New England Patriots. Walter Jerry Payton was born in Columbia, Mississippi on July 25, 1954. He was one of three siblings—two boys and one girl—the children of Peter and Alyne Payton.Younger years, Payton was never a competitive athlete. During his freshman year of high school he did only one sport and it is track and field. By his senior year of high school, Payton's senior year was really good and he broke his record in long to 22 feet 11 inches and 1/4 inch. He went to Major Universities wanted him, instead Payton went to Jackson State University. He went there because there still was segregated still so he went were there were more brown people.
Significant
His nickname is sweetness. He was the youngest NFL player to receive MVP when he was 23 years old. He is in the college Hall of Fame and NFL Hall of Fame. He played in 9 Pro Bowls which has the best players from NFC and AFC. When He won the Super Bowl. He faced liver disease and cancer. He has his own NFL honors award call Walter Payton Man Of the Year Award.
