One reason Odysseus was an epic hero was his constant consideration for others. He was always thinking of what was best for his shipmates and family, not just himself. For example when he was given the information of the sirens, he made sure to give all the knowledge he knew to his shipmates and even helped pour wax in their ears.

A second way that Odysseus proved himself to be an epic hero was his strong intelligence level. He always used his wits to get out of situations and it really paid off! Like when his men and himself were trapped by a cyclops, Odysseus had the idea to get the cyclops drunk and stab it in the eye. Then they could ride away under the fur of the cyclops' sheep.
