Once upon a time, an old woman and an old man lived in a house. They were hungry and the old woman made a gingerbread man. She put him in the oven to bake.

As soon as he was cooked, they wanted to eat the gingerbread man.When she opened the door of the oven, he jumped out of the oven and ran through the window by saying “Don’t eat me!”. 

The old woman and the old man ran after the gingerbread man. “Stop, stop! We want to eat you. We are hungry” they shouted and he said: “Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me. I am the gingerbread man. 

On his way, he saw a dog. The dog said: “ Stop,stop! I want to eat you. I am hungry”. The gingerbread man was too fast and he said: “Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me. I am the gingerbread man. 

Then, he saw a horse. The horse said: “ Stop, stop! I want to eat you. I am hungry”. But he didn’t stop. He said: “Run, run as fast as you can. You can’t catch me. I am the gingerbread man”. 

The horse began to chase him, along with the old woman, the old man and the dog.

But the gingerbread man was too fast for them. He laughed and laughed until he came to a river. “ Oh, no!” he cried. “ They can catch me. How can I cross the river?” he said.

Near the river, he saw a fox. The fox said: “ I can help you to cross the river. Jump on to my tail and we can swim across”. “You won’t eat me, will you?” asked the gingerbread man.
