This book is dedicated to all my World History students, past and present, who always push me to be a better teacher.

In the 1920's and the 1930's there was a world in turmoil, trying to recover from the Great War.

Almost every country was tying to rebuild itself and was struggling economically.

As a result, unrest grew and many of the countries turned to radical political groups for help.

These radical political groups introduced totalitarianism.
Totalitarianism is an attempt by a government to control all aspects of life.

These totalitarian governments controlled politics:
- State is more important than the individual
- Single political party is in control
- A powerful dictator unites the people and symbolizes the government
