I would like to dedicate this book to all the children of the world. I hope that it can be an inspiration for students to demand changes within their own schools, so one day all schools in the United States can go beyond being sustainable. My dream is to see all public schools thrive in every part of a child's development.

Welcome to the small island of Bali in Indonesia!

Bali is known for it's lushes rice paddy mountains, magnificent hindu temples, and deep rain forests.

Here at Green School we put the environment first. Our school is made out of 100% bamboo. Everyday we learn to take care of our island in different activities.

Bamboo is a sturdy material that naturally grows abundantly here in Bali. Some people call it giant grass.

All around the school we have gardens where we learn to grow rice, vegetables, and fruit.

Everything we harvest is organic and fresh. The best part is that we get to eat it later in lunch!

We even have animals. Here are our friends the cow, the buffalo, and bali's last black pigs.

Growing and learning next to animals has helped us grow an appreciation for life.
