WHAT IS THE PH SCALE?

The pH scale is a way to tell whether something is acidic or basic. 0-7 on the scale means something is acidic. 7-14 means something is basic. 7 means its neither.

If something has a pH closer to the left side of the scale then it is a strong acid and can be dangerous. If something has a pH closer to the right side of the scale then it is a strong base!

An acid is a substance that can donate hydrogen ions (H+) to other substances and they usually are protons. Depending on if they're strong or weak they can donate less or all of their protons!

A base is a solution that is dissolved in water but unlike acids, bases release hydroxide ions (OH-).
