NATURE SMELLS

Weather in summer is usually hot so when it rains it’s a great relief for people and their gardens.

The smell of wet ground goes first. People especially like it when it’s early morning and you go into the garden where it is cool and dewdrops are sparkling on the leaves of fruit trees and on the grass.

The second smell is the smell of stifling air before a thunderstorm. It gets darker because of black clouds, you can hear the rolls of thunder and you’re running home or for shelter in your garden. You might even sense electricity in the air, but it usually happens before a heavy thunderstorm. 

The third smell is the smell of wet asphalt after a heavy rain in the city or in the forest. The most enjoyable time for it is when it’s bucketing down and there are no cars around.

The fourth smell is by the sea. When there is a storm and strong gusts of wind bring droplets of salt water. It’s a bit cold as you stand facing the wind, but if you wrap yourself warm it can be bearable. And don't take an umbrella with you in such weather, otherwise it will break!

The fifth smell is at night. When there is a breeze blowing, the sky is clear and you can look at the stars above. You can even try to figure out which constellation there is or make figures from the stars. Peaceful time it is – you can stay alone, only with your thoughts.
