Hello there, my name is Sir John Johnson of New York. I fought with the British Army and my job is to ensure the citizens loyalty to the crown.
After we won the French and Indian war the British leaders had to find a way to pay for it. The people of Great Britain felt the colonists should have to pay for the war since it helped protect them. They decided to start taxing many things so the colonists had to help pay for the war.

You must help pay!

The parliament taxed many things including stamps, newspapers, and playing cards with the Stamp Act of 1765. Then with the Townshend Act they taxed tea, glass, and paint. After many protests these acts were repealed but they kept a tax on the tea.

These taxes upset many colonists so they began to protest and organize boycotts. The taxes did not really bother me. The British troops did protect us after all. I think those patriots were ungrateful for what Great Britain has done for us.
The British leaders were worried those Patriots were getting out of control so they sent troops to the city. They were not happy about that and some began teasing the soldiers. They should have stopped but they refused and the soldiers shot into the crowd, killing 5 colonists. I was shocked the British soldiers would kill their own people, but really those patriots should have left the soldiers alone. They were just doing their job.
In response to the protesting Parliament repealed the Townshend Act and only kept a tax on tea. I thought it was a good compromise. However, those patriots were still not pleased. They kept screaming, "No taxation without representation!" No one likes taxes, but that's not a good enough reason to rebel. However, the Patriots had enough. You will not believe what they did in December of 1773.
Colonists disguised themselves as Native Americans and dumped British tea into the Boston Harbor.
