Each of us has thought about how to be a good friend. To describe a real friend we use lots of words. And, indeed, it is very difficult.

So, what are the most important characteristics?

A friend should be honest and sincere. It is always pleasant to spend time with him even if you don’t talk constantly. A true friend should try to understand you even if it’s very hard. He can’t judge you. He also should be capable of being proud of you, if you’ve achieved something. A friend just can’t bully and manipulate you. He always will defend you if somebody tries to hurt you. 

In addition, a good friend always will love and appreciate you even if you’re not perfect. He won’t try to change you if you don’t want to. In the same time, he can help you to become better, give you advice when it’s necessary.

A good friend always will be there for the good times but also for the bad times. He’ll support you if you’re in trouble. Without these characteristics, you won't feel that you have a real friendship.
