All About Me

Hello, I am Alex the Axolotl but my real name is Ambystoma Mexicanum.
Where I Am From
I was first founded in some lakes found near mexico city.

Physical Apperance
I am classified as a salamander, but the special thing about me is I stay larva form. This means I never mature. Those weird tentacle looking things on my head or external gills. I am about 7 inches but have room to grow. Most axolotl can grow to be around 4 to 10 inches.
My Habitat
Since I never leave the larva state, this means I must live my life completely underwater. I find a lake to my best home while once in a while going down a stream to find a nice snack enjoyable.

Reproduction and Growth

I am neotenic. When I am born I start in the larva stage which I live the rest of my life, but during this I am still able to mature. It takes anywhere from six months to a year to fully mature.
Food Habits
I am an omnivore, which means I eat both plants and animals. Most of the plants I eat are algae. When it comes to animals it is a lot of small fish like meows and blue gills. Since I crawl on the bottom of the lakes the only predators I have to worry about are mainly catfish.

What is Being Done
The reason I am critically endangered is that, the urbanization of Mexico has lead to major pollution being put into the rivers. While they are trying to stop this from happening my friends and I are still declined. Since then scientist have been keeping us in captivity and breeding us. But since we don't adopted to different climate changes it is hard to move us to another location.
