Glazed Donut sat at the edge of the donut case
and cried. All the other pastries were making fun of him.
“Where are your sprinkles?” they asked.
“Are you jelly-filled or cream-filled?” they cried.
“Do you have any fancy decorations?” they teased.
Glazed Donut didn’t have any special features, he was just
a Glazed Donut.
“No one will ever buy you!” they shouted.
“You're just a plain old glazed donut,” they said.

Glazed Donut didn’t understand why everyone else
had something special about them except him. He didn’t
want to get old and stale. Glazed Donut was afraid
someone would throw him in the trash just because he
didn’t have sprinkles or a special filling. The thing Glazed
Donut wanted more than anything was to be bought.
“Life is so unfair!” he screamed.
.
Glazed Donut wiped away his last tear and went to
bed with the other pastries.

Days went by and no one bought Glazed Donut. He had
just about lost all hope when someone walked into the
bakery. It was a man in a black coat.
“Hello,” said the baker. ”Would you like to try our
cream-sticks or our new cupcakes?” said the baker.
“No thank you,” said the man. ”What I want is a plain
old glazed donut.”

All the pastries gasped! Glazed Donut looked up
and smiled. The baker picked him up and put him in a
box. The baker handed the box to the man in the black
coat. The man put Glazed Donut in the car and drove
away from the bakery.
